Oliver Lake (b. Marianna, Arkansas, September 14, 1942) is an American jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer and poet. He is known mainly on alto saxophone but also performs on soprano saxophone and flute.[1] During the 1960s Lake worked with the Black Artists Group in St. Louis.
In 1977 Lake co-founded the World Saxophone Quartet, with David Murray, Julius Hemphill and Hamiet Bluiett. He is currently a member of the group, Trio 3, with Reggie Workman and Andrew Cyrille. Lake is a resident of Montclair, New Jersey.[2] His son is jazz drummer Gene Lake (b. 12 January 1966).
